The Beatles bio started as a skiffle band that also played Rock & Roll but in the early 60’s in Britain there was a new sound called Merseybeat and they as well as other bands such as Gerry and the Pacemakers, Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas and many more played.

In June of 1962 at EMI’s Abbey Road Studios in London George Martin directed their first recording session as the Beatles these sessions yielded two singles that were released in October. They were “Love me do” and “P.S. I love you”. “Love me do” was a Top twenty hit so in November they recorded another single “Please Please Me”

The band continued to hone their sound and it had become the norm that all four members contributed vocals and the Lennon and McCartney songwriting partnership had begun. Brian Epstein could see their commercial potential so he encouraged the band to espouse a professional attitude to their performances. John Lennon was later quoted as saying that Brian said “Look, if you really want to get in these bigger places, you’re going to have to change—stop eating on stage, stop swearing, stop smoking. “He also said “We used to dress how we liked, on and off stage. He’d tell us that jeans were not particularly smart and could we possibly manage to wear proper trousers, but he didn’t want us suddenly looking square. He’d let us have our own sense of individuality … it was a choice of making it or still eating chicken on stage.”

With the direction of Brian Epstein and George Martin the Beatles went on to dominate the music scene during the rest of the 1960’s

They have been awarded 7 Grammy Awards from the American National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and 15 Ivor Novello Awards from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors.

Here are a few quotes from The Beatles:

“Try thinking more, if just for your own sake”. – The Beatles, Think For Yourself

“I think people who truly can live a life in music are telling the world, ‘You can have my love, you can have my smiles. Forget the bad parts, you don’t need them. Just take the music, the goodness, because it’s the very best, and it’s the part I give most willingly’”

-George Harrison

Love is a promise, love is a souvenir, once given, never forgotten, never let it disappear.”

- John Lennon

“I’d rather be a musician than a rock star.” – George Harrison

There is a lot more than snippets of the Beatles Bio here:

Pupils nearly always ask this question from their teachers: Just how long can it take to learn guitar? Well, there isn’t ‘one’ answer to this specific concern. Mastering guitar ±s really a process, it has no finish line. All of us are pupils all our lives. Even a teacher is a student of guitar. What’s your ultimate meaning of guitar playing? How expert are you keen to get? All these queries bring about many different reactions from learners as well as instructors as well.

Why Guitar?

Rock music is an extremely well known type of music; hence a lot of people like to become skilled at guitar playing. It has become popular to spend time playing guitar. Your attractiveness increases exponentially if you play a guitar skillfully. The guitar is all around us. It’s a versatile instrument. Because of its marvelous popularity it has become a symbol of social revolution.

There are a few teenagers who’re really serious about a profession as rock stars, but in most cases most people plan to study guitar for the sake of learning. A good number of people lose hope very soon and give up their own vision, because they cannot find out the most advantageous way to learn playing a guitar.

Your View Of Guitar

How do you view a guitar? What is it that you would like to be? A guitar owner, a guitarist, or perhaps a music performer who conveys music using a guitar!

If you want to be only a guitar owner, you only need an adequate amount of money to purchase a guitar. Then guitar is just one more gadget, just like a portable play station, a computer game, or a fashion accessory. If you decide you fit in with this segment, how much time will it take you to have fun with a guitar? 30 minutes? You basically really want people to see you playing the guitar.

If you wish to be described as a guitar player, you have to be no-nonsense about it. You have got to dedicate a great many time gaining knowledge of the basic principles of guitar playing. Will you be studying all on your own or from your close friends? How Long can it take you to learn about guitar? You better understand that it ±s really a life long process.

When you are a musician who uses guitar to share his music, you also are focused entirely on your playing. At this level you without a doubt know precisely the total breadth of music. When you’re a superb music performer, you not only play your guitar beautifully but can also intelligently discuss music. People in this particular segment listen to, read, and examine all genres of music. How much time should it take these guitar players to learn guitar? They know that it is a practice for their complete lifetime.

What’s the prime variance between Individuals who would like to be guitar players, and musicians who showcase their music through guitar? Well, the guitar players are just guitar players, while a few musicians grow to be legends.

Internal Motivation Or External Influence

People who find themselves inspired by external influences commonly don’t have the discipline required to become guitar player. Whenever they understand that they should put in a significant amount of effort, they throw in the towel and proceed to a subsequent ‘smart’ activity. Work and delayed gratification are definitely not what they bargain for. In contrast, should you have an internal motivation to master guitar, you will learn it, no matter what it takes.

Learning guitar is much perspiration and inspiration, but it is equally crucial to love the process of practicing guitar. Learning to play the guitar does take a long time. The length of time, depends absolutely upon you.

What is crowdfunding? you may wonder, so let me explain. If someone or an organization of some type (it can be a loosly defined group or a corporation) has an idea, but not the money to see it come to fruition, they can go to the global masses to finance their plan. For example, charities are all crowd funded, as are churches. Political campaigns are crowd funded. And crowdfunding has financed independent films, music albums, and many other projects via the different crowdfunding sites online. In this short article, let’s look at some of them and what they do.

Indiegogo.com

Launched in 2008, Indiegogo is a very popular crowdfunding site that was founded by three partners: Danae Ringelmann, Slava Rubin, and Eric Schell. Each of them bring different skills to the table in terms of finance, marketing, and IT. It has seen 3,500 projects uploaded from 100 different countries around the world. So, as long as you have a bank account, you will be able to participate.

Like the majority of crowdfunding sites online, Indiegogo is free to add your proejct to, and also like a majority of the sites online, Indiegogo takes a commission from the successful site. At the time of this writing, it’s a 4% fee, so when you’re deciding on how much money you need to complete your project, add that amount into your request.

Kickstarter.com

Another very popular crowdfunding site is Kickstarter. Unlike Indiegogo, your project on Kickstarter will have a particular deadline. You have only that amount of time to collect all of the donations you’re requesting, or the project fails and you get no money at all. The upside for contributors is that their credit cards won’t be charged. The upside for the project owner is that deadlines usually help people to take action faster.

And that’s a differentiation that Kickstarter makes plain. People who donate to your crowdfunding project are not investors. They have no say in how the project goes from the time you get the funding until it is complete. They don’t get their money back for any reason, and it’s up to the person who put the crowdfunding project up to fulfill on the promises made in return for donations.

On the other hand, your project will run on Kickstarter until the dealine you set for it to be fully funded. If your project is funded early, people can still donate and you’ll end up with more than you asked for. For example, a recent project for social marketing software asked for a mere $10,000 and came away with $181,535!

International members are permitted on Kickstarter as long as they have an Amazon Payments account. The fee for a successfully funded crowdfuning project on Kickstarted is 5%.

There are also specific crowdfunding sites for people who want to do specific things. SellaBand, com is for musicians, Quirky.com is for inventors, and CreateaFund.com is for people who want to create their own crowdfunding site.

You can participate in crowdfunding on many different levels and you can get funding for just about any project you want to get funded.
The papers filed in Manhattan’s Court,Mashonda Dean says the man who officially became her ex-husband two weeks ago already owes her $334,000 in missed payments.

“I so much wanted both of us to get on with our lives and maintain our respect for one another, but he now shows that his priorities and sense of responsibility are screwed up,” R&B singer Dean said.

Dean’s lawyer, Bernard Clair, called the nonpayment “particularly troubling” because of reports that Beatz bought a seven-carat engagement ring for Alicia Keys earlier this year and the couple is moving into a 14.5 million duplex penthouse on Crosby Street.

Swizzz Beats told “The Post” his ex’s allegations that he owes $325,000 in equitable distribution and $9,000 in alimony and child support are “inaccurate” and “overblown,” and said that he’s gone “above and beyond” to provide for her and their son, Kasseem Jr., 13.

He said he’d agreed to pay Deanmore than the judge required and much more than his lawyer recommended — he even had to sign court papers acknowledging that he was going against his attorney’s advice.

“I gave over what the judge was recommending to give. I Swizz beats said he gave his ex-wife 700k up front, because I thought $200,000 wasn’t enough for what she wanted to do. I still get spit in my face for it,” he said.

Guitar devotees commonly like playing fast guitar and aspire to be similar to Slash or Metallica. Still, in spite of how hard we try, we discover that attempting to play speedily, ends up with us playing something that just isn’t going to sound appropriate. Now is not the time to give up your dreams of playing fast, instead we can look at inspecting what is slowing us down and trying to take care of that obstacle.

Learning To Play Guitar Faster

There’re some specific things that you may easily do everyday to greatly improve your speed. The initial and most crucial thing to do is to practice each day. A large number of guitar players desire to become competent guitarists but fail to in reality make an effort. Individuals simply really don’t say that practice makes perfection, certainly it is absolutely accurate as far as playing the guitar is concerned. It truly is vital to practice your guitar each day at least for half an hour. Practicing by sticking with an organized guitar practice planner will not only help expand your skills but in addition be excellent for your hands. Your fingers could very well ache to begin with but with constant effort you will in the near future stop complaining and start having fun with it.

You can make a decision on a certain musical piece and begin the process of practicing it slowly. You can play a selected musical passage repeatedly and shortly you will find that your speed has advanced. You can then look at playing the complete piece of music everyday and will notice your development just about every day.

Your preference of picks also has impact on the way your speed increases. Soft or flexible plectrums slow your pace where as firmer guitar picks are constructed to increase your guitar speed. You can experiment with playing a section of the guitar scale ascending and descending with out stopping.

Countless people do not like using guitar practice tools like the metronome, though if you would like to get better, there’s no downside in trying them. If you’re a newbie you can set the metronome at say 40 beats-per-minute. This essentially means that the metronome will click 40 times each minute. You must make certain that every individual note goes along to every click of the metronome. If you’re able to keep up to it, you can try boosting the tempo to 60 beats-per-minute. You could try increasing the tempo on a daily basis until you are in a position to play easily with out playing out of time. You can set your own limits and work on strengthening your ability accordingly.

Infrequently should I go out and do this, but I felt like sparking some discussion. Given his latest, and even tho, electrifying mixtape drop So Far Gone, Drake has already established himself under the wing of hip hop’s largest star, Weezy, and has received the co-sign from many legends and current hip hop studs. For a man who started on Degrassi, the look and the appeal was already there.

He threw in a rap voice and some great lyrical talent to pretty much complete his threat. Is it fair to say that he has the potential to be, not just the largest selling Canadian Hip Hop Artist, but simply, the most known Canadian hiphop artist ever?

The reality is this ; I have heard more about Drake from the States than I have from Canada’s own. To claim that any other artist north of the boarder has received as much buzz and anticipation for a debut album may be unsound compared to Drake. If you glance at the most successful Canadian artist, you will find some great emcees : Maestro Fresh Wes ( The Godfather of Canadian hip hop ), Saukrates ( Multi-dimensional musical genius ), Kardinal Offishall ( ambassador of Canadian hip-hop ), K-os ( easily one of Canada’s premier emcees ). With all of this talent, it might be hard to figure out how or what Drake has that should shoot him to the top.

The answer is straightforward. Lil’Wayne. Drake has not only hip hop’s biggest star at his disposal, but music’s largest star. Whether he makes a decision to ride the coat-tails of Weezy’s success is up to Drake, but it seems like he already has enough of a buzz going with him under Interscope without even putting out an album. With over eighty thousand mixtape downloads of So Far Gone ( with a selection of download links the number might be higher ), I find it terribly difficult to say that any of the previously mentioned Canadian artists, not to mention an artist of any area code, could pull that off. I still remember when he put out two joints alongside younger brother ; he was hardly a final thought notwithstanding his huge amount of potential and talent. Now, the problem is not talking about him and fitting him into that Weezy style of always being a subject of conversation.

Sure, while those formerly discussed artists have had tremendous success across the boarder, some fizzed out too soon ( Maestro ) and some took some time to get there ( Kardinal ). Drake seems to have once been as loud as ever without ever making any noise. I don’t want to come across like I am riding this fellow ( or take anything away from those Canadian hop hop legends ), I’m sure the ego is maybe boosting on the daily, but I think like notwithstanding the quality of his music he is going to be on top or at least round the top for a while for reasons that may or may not have anything to do with music.

Canada is stuffed with talent, and if you have noticed, KevinNottingham.com has been hard at work promoting some hip hop from America Junior, as Homer Simpson calls it. Unfortunately , I will say that Drake probably won’t have that Canadian Artist- Drake label attached to him for too much time, like how K’naan has been developing in Europe and Asia and even in parts of the US. The small bit of it all is that if and when Drake does release an album, we are able to potentially expect BET’s countless countdown lists to feature him, for all of the girlies to go nuts, and for all of the dominating male hiphop heads to give him his daps. He’s a ton of appeal and will certainly develop among even the tiniest hip hop fans, just like his clear partner in crime, Weezy, has.

If you want to be a music producer, you are going to have to take the correct steps You must think of music production as something that needs the right knowledge to prosper . For example , you would not become an automobile mechanic without having knowledge of cars . In order to become a music producer, you are going to need to know the music business , assorted genres and the knowledge of how music has been produced .

It’s a good idea to have aims of learning to be a music producer if you have a love of music or if you know how to use an instrument. But it is also true , there are also tons of other reasons as to why you should aim for a career in producing music .

1. If you want to become a top level music producer, you need to have an outstanding ear for music. To improve this skill of yours, you must get familiar with various instruments, chords and music themes . You have to listen to various types of music and read various books regarding the art of music production so you will have a better knowledge of how to become a music producer. A good “ear” will also be vital for with finding vocal talent for your songs , errors that are being made and even noticing a potential hit.

2. You need to improve your production techniques during the recording process in music production. You can buy books that provide step-by-step instruction to add to your knowledge in recording. First, you have to be familiar with recording programs because nowadays most recording is done in a digital format , so you have to understand how the software works. Then, learn the audio mixing . Outside of the programs , there is a lot of equipment like computer programs, synthesizers, keyboards and numerous other technical tools that you should definitely keep yourself up to date with .

3. If you do want to become a music producer, you have to spend most of your time using formal training in music producer classes. You can take a course in sound engineering and get a music production degree. By studying all the basic techniques and developing your music production knowledge , you will be a professional music producer in no time .

4. When you learn to expand your comprehension of music , it’s time to take affirmative action. Enter the music industry and try to compete with other music producers by offering your skills as a service. For instance , you can find an internship or find a band and try to produce their music. You can also build your own studio. No matter which one you decide on , it’s time to start your success.

It is always an excellent idea to prepare yourself when it comes to becoming a music producer because you will always want to improve your skills, your knowledge and how you perceive music to become better at music production . Music production can be simple as far as the technical aspects are concerned, but creating something as a music producer that people will want to listen to is a whole other store. Choose your path to producing music wisely and look into all available options and venues meticulously when you are looking at music production schools. Let your creative side out to show the world a message, an idea and an awesome track while producing music!

Several years ago, many people complained that pop music is one of the most familiar genres they can enjoy in their daily life. In this case, jazz music was not the common genre they can see it performed on the television very often. Jazz was brought or performed from pub to pub or even from one exclusive stage to others. But today is different. People can enjoy such music as they can enjoy pop music.

Jazz music was born from the creative hands of black people who experienced oppression and slavery in America in the late 18th century. Expression of a resistance against the racist and oppressive political system was manifested in the way of black Americans to play their music.

The interesting thing from jazz music was that the origin of the word “jazz” was derived from a vulgar term used for sexual acts. Most of rhythms in jazz were ever associated with the brothels and the women with an unfortunate reputation.

Jazz music is a symbol of freedom, hope and the skills of show ones self in through one of best art forms which is music. Meaning, African American citizens fought oppression since the beginning of slavery, and this music represented that resistance. Jazz music has a foundation of the basic rules of composition, but it has since expanded its way toward newer forms of music.

New Orleans jazz musicians presented their performances in bars, gambling houses, and even places of prostitution which in those days was flourishing in New Orleans. In 1917, almost all places of entertainment in New Orleans were closed because they were considered to reduce public concern against the government and to increase criminal activities. Then, Jazz grew out of the city of New Orleans.

One of jazz legends who was believed was the legend around 1891. An owner of hair shaving shop in New Orleans, named Buddy Bolden blew his cornet and the time became the beginning of jazz music as a new breakthrough in the music world. Half a century later, American jazz music gave many contributions to the world of music. Jazz was also studied at university, and eventually became a serious music and was calculated by the world of music.

Jazz as a popular art began to spread to almost all of American society in the 1920s (known as the Jazz Age). Jazz was more widespread in the swing era in the late 1930s and it peaked in the late 1950s as a modern jazz. In the early 20s and 30s, “jazz” has become a common word.

The influence and development of blues music could not be left when discussing jazz music in the early years of its development. Expressions that shined when playing the blues were in line with the style of jazz. The ability to play the blues music became the standard for all jazz musicians, especially to be used in improvisation.

Blues music itself, which was originated from the southern region, had a very broad history. Blues players usually used guitar, piano, and harmonica, or played together in a group who played his own musical instruments.

Jazz music that was rooted in the blues, evolved into New Orleans, RAG time, boogie woogie, dixie and swing. Then, in the early decades of the 1940s, jazz entered be bop era. Be bop music was the outlet of the Negro protest in the United States. The atmosphere of World War II made all of society and the musicians frustrated.

A year ago, the festival Jazz Britannia was such a success that the Barbican along with BBC Four are bringing to us this year, a 3 day festival which celebrates the evolution of British folk music from the end of the Second World War right up to its modern day revival. From the 2nd to 4th February ‘06, the Barbican holds a series of live events encompassing three themed concerts, free music, films and talks. Tying in with the event is BBC Four’s very special three-part documentary series of the same title that engages with the disparate and sometimes argumentative elements of the contemporary folk scene.

To kick off on Thursday 2nd February, Which Side Are You On? is a night that features two of the biggest names in folk music of the British Isles and will be hosted by the force that is, Billy Bragg. The monumental Scottish firebrand singer-songwriter Dick Gaughan, will take to the Barbican Hall stage alongside Martin Carthy, a mainstay of the English folk scene.

Daughters of Albion on Friday 3rd February brings together some of England’s finest female folk artists and singer-songwriters in a themed concert to sing songs of experience. The set list places ancient folk ballads alongside West Country trip hop and 21st Century R’n’B. All performances will be accompanied by an ensemble featuring ex-Pogue and master multi-instrumentalist David Coulter, guitarist Neil MacColl and Van Morrison’s drummer Liam Bradley, all arranged by MD Kate St John. Artists include June Tabor, Sheila Chandra and Norma Waterson.

The final night, Into The Mystic celebrates the current resurgence of interest in the psychedelic, mystical, neo-folk of the late 1960s and early 1070s. It explores how this renewed interest has been reflected on a new generation of artists today. It will feature artists from pioneer bands such as Pentangle, The Incredible String Band, Donovan and Vashti Bunyan.

Meanwhile, the BBC 4 series will be divided into three one hour episodes which chronicles how the music was coerced into a revolutionary soundtrack by the Left in the 50s, how the hippie generation bent it into progressive folk-rock in the 60s and 70s only for punks like The Pogues and Billy Bragg to bring things back to basics in the 80s and 90s. The story of folk will be told by a stellar cast of musicians, live performances and archive footage and the debates that arise in its argumentative world will be discussed.

Let’s get one thing straight, Shorty aren’t an all singing all dancing group of (let’s be politically correct here) ‘vertically-challenged people’. Neither are they a girl band who named themselves so, out of devotion to 50 Cent and that infamous line from the song In Da Club. Far from that, Shorty are, with the exception of two band members, well over six foot tall and are, with the exception of vocalist Celeste, male. Shorty was just an aptly ironic name for a band whose members are often referred to as ‘trees’. As for 50 Cent and the reference to ‘fine women’ Shorty were around long before that. What the band Shorty can be referred to however, is a seven- piece hip hop/funk collective that thrive on the live scene who have already been establishing themselves as a force in UK hip hop to be reckoned with.

The beginnings of Shorty started in Leeds when bassist Dan French met guitarist Jim Reynolds and drummer Charlie Taylor at university. Later on in London, DJ Hudge along with MCs Ducane and Cisco filled in the gaps while vocalist Celeste completed the picture when they found her singing at a friend’s party. So what happens when you throw seven strong minded people together and ask them to produce a sound? The good news is, Shorty landed on the right side of the term ‘mish-mash’.

With seven people who are all massively into music, how does a band find their sound? Shorty have taken in a varied range of influences; from Led Zeppelin to Gangstarr, from Stevie Wonder and Lauryn Hill to A Tribe Called Quest and Fela Kuti. These influences have thus contributed to their producing a sound that can’t quite be placed into a genre as such. Celeste agrees that “it is a fantastic thing although it can be difficult to explain sometimes”. The reason it is a fantastic thing is because, Shorty have found a way to ‘smash it all down and mix it up’ and produce something that appeals. “When you look at people’s influences these days you find that they like a bit of rock and they like a bit of hip hop but they also might like a bit of jazz and a bit of soul. There aren’t necessarily too many bands that mix them all together. They find it refreshing as music genres aren’t so defined anymore. It appeals to a much broader section of people,” say the band.

Their sound is further emphasised by their lyrics which broach anything that needs calling to attention. The majority of lyrics are written by Cisco, DuCane and Celeste who say that their songs, “come from experiences or things in a particular moment that spark a creative process.” Shorty’s songwriting process is as organic as sitting in Celeste’s flat, looking out a window and finding inspiration from an average Brixton street nut.

So does a band that so evidently know what it takes to produce good music ever think of using it as a tool to perhaps get political? Shorty acknowledge that “there are people who do the political thing really well and they should be commended, but we don’t want to jump on the bandwagon and do the political thing, just for the sake of doing politics.” They like to consider themselves more of a party band. That is not to say however, that they would ever sway in the direction of so many hip hop type bands that have started to jump into that other bandwagon of superficiality.

The superficiality here refers to the notion of sex, ‘bling’ and videos that feature ‘wall to wall ass shaking’ which more often than not, gets clumped into the urban culture scene. Shorty realise that they inevitably are representative of this scene and stress that they want no part of the trivial side of things. Says Celeste, “It’s a shame because there’s a whole generation of kids that are ‘plonked’ in front of MTV and there’s a whole generation growing up on this sort of degradation. It breeds ignorance and the more cynical that this generation gets, the more sex and porn that they have to sell to drag people in. There’s no aspect of our music that ever goes there and there never can be.” Shorty would rather stick to making quality music that is “slightly quirky and appeal to different people’s sense of humour.”

With attitude and their feet firmly stuck to the gravel, Shorty have been carving themselves a niche in the UK urban/hip hop scene. They’ve been dubbed the next big thing and have collected themselves the Diesel-U-Music Award for Hip Hop back in 2002. The band have worked with UK heavyweight producers, Blackbeard and have toured in Europe which included a Roots Manuva after show. Shorty reckon they would do well in the US as their brand of sound that blends different sorts of music has more of a niche there. However, for now, they are setting their sights on home ground. “There is a lot of talent and good music that hasn’t been given the chance and hopefully, we’ll be seen as a breath of fresh air,” says Hudge.

In the pipeline, is a mixed tape that they are in the process of producing for online release which will feature the best of five or six tracks that could sum up their sound and Shorty hope to be seen at the festivals of 2006. In the nearer future, they will be playing Cargo on 8th March 2006.

This band is set to make an impact. A tall order but one Shorty aren’t afraid to take on.
