What is a template? It’s a design tool that lets you create the exact same thing, easily, over and over again. Using banner templates can save you a ton of time and effort as after you create the flash banner template all you should have to do is fill in a few of the blank spots and your flash banner or regular banner should be ready to go.
That’s a pretty simplified explanation but it gives you the basic idea. It’s always a great idea to create a template for things that you have to do over and over or for things that are very similar.
Some of the things that may be similar are the colors on a website and you would want to use those colors in the banner template where appropriate. You might also create another template for the same site with contrasting colors to use as a flash banner template.

Website banners can come in any size you want them. They also come in standard sizes that almost everyone uses. All of the google adsense ads you see are within standard size banners. However if you want a banner 5 pixels by 25 pixels you can get one or you can get a huge banner that will cover the whole screen. I pretty much stick to the standard sizes as they work well.
Where to put your banners to get the best ctr is the biggest problem you’ll have. Putting an ad in the wrong place means it won’t get many clicks. Putting that same advertisement in the right place and it will get a ton of clicks. As a general rule people focus on a webpage, according to tracking stats, in an F pattern. They scan across the top, then down the left side and then partially across the middle. That info will give you a place to start when you place advertising banners on your site.
